It has been a hallmark feature of Wellspring to be “unplugged,” and we even encourage guests to take a holiday from electronics while with us!
However, for guests seeking internet use, as of September 2020, Wellspring offers a very low key network that is accessible in our covered open air Gazebo, but not guaranteed to reach inside cabins. Details will be sent with your confirmation email.
Depending on your carrier, you might get cell service. If you have Verizon and possibly T–Mobile, you can probably get cell reception at Wellspring and use a personal hotspot for Wi-Fi! There usually is cell service on the highway and there is Wi-Fi at most of the local restaurants.
Should an emergency arise during your stay, there is a red phone at the Information Kiosk where you first pick up your key. Our answering service can help you resolve an urgent issue.
Please know that in the forest, the electricity can go out for short periods of time. Although Wellspring supplies lanterns for *inside* your cabin, please bring a flashlight with you for each person in your party, to use when you walk *outside* your cabin after dark.
– Should stormy weather shut off the electricity, there will be an interruption to our water pump. Your cabin and bathroom are ready with water supplies for essential use.
– Wellspring’s tap water is sourced from its own deep, private well. The water is extremely pure and tastes wonderful!
– We provide water to cover essentials when a limit to our water source occurs. Examples in our remote forest setting can be a storm-caused electrical outage or drought. Each bathroom at Wellspring has a large blue jug of water for toilet flushing. An additional supply of water is under each cabin’s sink to use for drinking, cooking and spot bathing.
CHECK-IN time is anytime after 3pm. CHECK-OUT time is by 11:30am.
Please be a considerate cabin neighbor by observing Wellspring’s quiet hours: 10pm to 10am.
Parents with young children, please have quiet activities indoors in the morning before 10am, so other guests are not awakened by little voices at play outside.
WHAT’S THE EASIEST WAY TO SEE WHAT’S AVAILABLE?
On our booking page, each accommodation’s photo has a link to an interactive 3-Month Calendar View. Vacancies for that cabin — including 1-night availability between other reservations — will show their date(s) on a white background; occupied dates are on a gray square.
WHY AM I GETTING A “CALL US” ICON ?
When your availability search gives you a “CALL US” message — (which means, “please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org“), the following may be the case:
1) OCCUPIED ? — One or more nights in the date range you are requesting may already be booked. This will be made visible when you click on the “View 3-Month Calendar” button next to the booking photo for that cabin.
2) PART OR ALL OF TATOOSH ? — Tatoosh Lodge can be reserved in several different configurations. At any given time, only one configuration will show as available online, in order to prevent double booking of the same spaces! See our TATOOSH LODGE OPTIONS topic to learn when different configurations can be made available.
HOW MANY NIGHTS ?
Wellspring generally offers two-night minimum stays.
⦁ One-night availability sometimes occurs naturally between bookings. These can be discovered with our Availability Search Tool, by clicking on the “View 3-Month Calendar” button next to the cabin you are interested in.
HOW MANY PEOPLE ?
To start your reservation, before you click on the BOOK button, first enter the total number of paying guests. A list will refresh to display which cabins can accommodate the total number in your group.
⦁ More info ~ see our “EXTRA GUESTS” topic.
ANY CHILDREN IN YOUR GROUP ?
⦁ Our “YOUNG CHILDREN” topic lists which accommodations at Wellspring are for children under 13.
⦁ On the billing page, please type inside the “PREFERENCES” box the ages of children coming with you, and that you will bring a portable crib and linens for an infant or toddler who is staying for free.
⦁ If you are staying in a camper cabin, “PREFERENCES” is also the place to tell us whether you want the one king bed or two twins in the center of the room.
What is the difference between Tatoosh Lodge, Tatoosh Room, and Tatoosh Room With Loft?
⦁ Tatoosh Lodge is the whole building — which includes Tatoosh Room, the Loft, The Nest, and both bathrooms.
⦁ Tatoosh Room is the downstairs of the building and includes the full kitchen & long dining table, seating/sleeping area by the fireplace, and the one larger downstairs bathroom with jetted bathtub for 2 and waterfall shower.
PRIVACY: When Tatoosh Room is booked as a separate unit, the Loft is blocked off and no one can enter that space during your stay.
⦁ Tatoosh Room With Loft is the whole building except for The Nest, and includes both bathrooms.
PRIVACY: When Tatoosh Room With Loft is booked, no one may reserve or enter The Nest.
Why is there a CALL US message on the Tatoosh accommodation I want to book?
⦁ Please check whether at least one night in your series is already occupied by clicking on the “View 3-Month Calendar” button next to the accommodation’s booking photo.
⦁ Otherwise, the “Call Us” setting prevents double booking of the same space in different configurations of Tatoosh! Sometimes the availability can be changed for you by a request email to email@example.com (see circumstances in the next question).
When can the Tatoosh configuration I want be made available to book?
⦁ For Tatoosh Room and/or The Nest:
– During the summer months of June through September, these smaller configurations can be booked three weeks ahead of time or less, when still available.
– From October through May, Tatoosh Room and/or The Nest are available to book
* at any time for Weekdays (Sunday through Thursday nights).
* three weeks ahead for Weekends and holidays (Friday, Saturday, and holiday nights).
Please visit https://wellspringspa.com/tatoosh/

and to see all their photos in one place.

HOW OUR CERTIFICATES WORK
A Wellspring certificate works just like cash! As such it needs to be physically left behind with the cabin’s check-out card in order for the certificate’s value to be applied to the guest’s bill.
The recipient will book their stay online, making a credit card deposit for the first night’s cost. At the end of their stay, the certificate amount will first be applied to any outstanding balance on the reservation. Then any remaining certificate value will refund a matching amount of the deposit paid by the guest.
Recipients are welcome to upgrade to any accommodation or number of nights not covered by the gift certificate’s value, by paying the difference.
WE LOOK FORWARD TO ASSISTING YOU with your gift purchase!
Thank you for helping others return to this favorite place, or for introducing new guests to Wellspring !

Firewood and starter materials are provided by Wellspring for all cabins with wood stoves or fireplaces, and are replenished once a day during housekeeping hours. Just watch your kindling use to save some for the morning !
OUTDOOR FIRES at Wellspring are limited to the fire sphere at the Yurt and the Gazebo’s raised fire pit / grill, and firewood is provided there. Please see more information about the Gazebo in the COOKING topic below.
* BURN BANS – Weather safety in wildfire season can take unexpected turns. When critical fire weather alerts come to our area, Wellspring must bar fires in any cabin fireplace or wood stove, in the wood-fired Greenhouse sauna next to Turiya, in the fire sphere at the Yurt, and in the Gazebo’s raised fire pit. (The propane grill remains available.)
All accommodations at Wellspring have Mr. Coffee-type coffee makers with filters & fixings, as well as tea. Wonderful pre-ground organic, fair trade, shade grown coffee is provided; also ground Swiss water process decaf. Cafe Mam is the roasting company from Eugene, Oregon.

Cooking is only allowed in these cabins, which have full kitchens equipped with appliances:

⦁ Three Bears Cottage
Please see more details about kitchens in these accommodations’ descriptions here:
Microwaves for simply heating food are in most cabins — except not in The Nest, nor in the three camper cabins (Timbuktu, Trail’s End, or Tumbleweed). Please, no cooking on the wood stoves.
Otherwise, please plan your meals to either cook them in our Gazebo where you will find a wood-fired grill and a gas grill; or bring food not needing to be cooked; or enjoy some of the nearby restaurants. https://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurants-g60907-Ashford_Washington.html
The Gazebo is also the only location at Wellspring for outdoor grilling — either on the raised fire pit grill or on Wellspring’s own propane grill, with fuel and basic pans & utensils provided. A sink and counter area is there for food prep and clean-up. The two bathrooms at this location are reserved for private use by guests staying in our camper cabins.
* BURN BANS
If a critical fire weather alert comes to our area, Wellspring must bar fires in the Gazebo’s raised fire pit. The propane grill will remain available for cooking.

Wellspring is just a few minutes (3.7 miles) from the Nisqually-southwest entrance to Mount Rainier National Park. To enter the National Park in the winter season (Nov 1 – May 1) you must carry chains in your car. Take a look before you come for where chains may be rented.

Please know that in the forest, the electricity can go out for short periods of time. Although Wellspring supplies lanterns for inside your cabin, please pack a flashlight for each person in your party, to use when you walk outside your cabin after dark.
Should stormy weather shut off the electricity, there will be interruption to our water pump. Each cabin has a blue 5 gallon jug of water for toilet flushing; this water is also potable. An additional supply of drinking water is under each sink.
When there is ice or snow in our Ashford area, the county keeps the roads sanded and plowed — but be prepared with tires for snow and ice (e.g., traction tires or studded tires).
⦁ Good shoes for some slippery spots are important too!

For the safety of our guests, our staff, and the extended community: appointments for massage therapy & saunas at Wellspring — and any use of the outdoor hot tubs — are temporarily suspended.
We do not know a date by which spa appointments will again be available, but for now we are waiting for wide distribution of the coronavirus vaccines. When spa services resume, Wellspring’s website will display that announcement at the top of its Spa page and elsewhere on our site.
In the meantime, lodging guests of Turiya or Grace West Guestrooms do have exclusive use of just the heated cedar sauna room next to them during their stays.
For a different way to have a soothing soak, these are the accommodations at Wellspring that have private indoor jetted bathtubs for 2 people:
⦁ all three Deluxe Cabins (Tioga, Tieton, and Tamarack)

The Japanese call it Shinrin Yoku, or forest bathing, and Wellspring is ideally situated for this! You can see the map of Wellspring’s trails here: wellspringspa.com/map/
Sorry, pets have to stay home with someone else while you’re at Wellspring. You may be lucky to see some of the native animals in the neighborhood!
